Olympic Medalist Grant Fisher To Be Honored In Grand Blanc
In a world where big achievements often overshadow humble beginnings, it’s inspiring to see small-town heroes like Grant Fisher never forget where they came from. Fisher made sure to shout out to his hometown of Grand Blanc when celebrating his medal win in Paris, and now the community is ready to celebrate him.
As double Olympic bronze medal winner, Grant embodies the spirit of perseverance and community pride, and now he’s returning to Grand Blanc to be honored not once, but twice in an extraordinary way.
First up, Ascension Genesys Health Club will host the Grant Fisher Indoor Track Dedication Ceremony. Fisher spent many hours and miles in his early running years training at the local athletic facility. The event marks the official naming of the indoor track in honor of Grant, recognizing his hard work, dedication, and the inspiration he brings to aspiring athletes in our community.
Fisher and his coach his coach Mike Scannell.will be present for the big dedication taking place Friday, September 27th, at 9:00 am. All are invited to attend, but space will be limited. For ticket information click here.
Later that day, Grant will have the honor of serving as the Grand Marshall for the Grand Blanc High School Homecoming Parade. He will also be honored as one of the 2024 Distinguished Alumni honorees. The parade is set for 5:00 pm, and former teammates of Fisher from track and cross country are invited to walk in the parade with the Olympian.
Having Fisher back in town to celebrate his amazing accomplishments is special for everyone.
"Celebrating hometown hero Grant Fisher during our Homecoming festivities is so special to us", Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce President Leigh Laforest told us. "We are incredibly excited to have him here and it's great for the community and Grand Blanc!"
Join in as we recognize a true champion who continues to inspire future generations, reminding us all that our roots play a vital role in our journeys.
