In just 3 days, Grand Blanc saw a State Championship Title, an Olympic qualification, and a Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen title. Not bad for one weekend.

We Are the Champions

They headed to Lansing with a first class send-off that even included Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson cheering them on with words of wisdom. The Grand Blanc Varsity Baseball team was off to play in finals. It was the first time in the program's history the the Bobcats would find themselves in the finals.

Under head coach  Kevin Hubbs, the Bobcats scored an 8-3 victory over Portage Central in the Division 1 high school baseball state finals, and brought the trophy home to Grand Blanc.

Heading to Tokyo

Grant Fisher made his mark in a big way as a student athlete at Grand Blanc High School. As a member of the Grand Blanc Cross Country team he broke records left and right. In 2015, spring of his senior year,  he became the seventh American high school student to run a mile under four minutes. He went on to continue his successful running career at Stanford University continuing to break records, but always had the Olympics on his mind.

At the Olympic trials this past weekend, Fisher, along with his Portland-based Bowerman Track Club teammate Woody Kincaid, secured his spot on Team USA for the Tokyo Olympics in the 10,000 meters.

There She is...Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen

Rylie Dewley is everything that's right about the young people in,and around the  Genesee County area. She has created & managed an adopt a senior program for the seniors at Grand Blanc High School,  and has adopted a highway and maintains that along with teaching youth about being heart smart with her Start Heart Smart program. She also created “Care for Cardiac” care packages have been delivered successfully at U of M - Mott Children’s Hospital & Hurley as a way to bring some smiles to the children cardiac patients, to let them know they are not alone.

This weekend the 17 years old Grand Blanc High School student saw her dreams become a reality. Rylie was crowned Miss Michigan's Outstanding Teen. She won a $1,000 academic scholarship with here title, and will be off to Orlando in  July to compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen.

"As someone who has dreamed of this opportunity ever since I was a young girl, I couldn’t be more honored or excited!" Dewely said.

Yes....it was quite a weekend to be a Bobcat. Way to represent the area and the state!
