A hero when he's in AND out of uniform.

The Runnels family from Grand Rapids was excited for a fun day at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills on February 10th - they were checking out the Sea Life Aquarium with their 18-month-old daughter, Vivian.

She was fine when they left the house but, when they were in the food court at the mall, Vivian had a seizure. Genesee County corrections deputy Rocky Hensley was also at the mall and jumped right in to help.

He thought she was choking but then realized that she was in cardiac arrest. He performed CPR on her and she started breathing and crying. She was later diagnosed with influenza A; she's now home and resting.

Hensley was honored by Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson for his heroic efforts, saying that "A lot of people might have watched what happened. This guy brought that little girl back.”
