A Michigan was pretty suspicious when he saw an email saying he was a winner. But after he checked with the Lottery, he learned that he really was a big winner.

Nicholas McCreary likes to play the Michigan Lottery's $6 Million Jackpot second chance game and then uses the app on his phone to scan the tickets in order to earn entries in the Lottery's second-chance drawing. When he got an email saying that he had won, he thought it was probably a scam.

"I was going through my emails and saw I had one from the Michigan Lottery saying I’d won $100,000," McCreary tells Michigan Lottery Connect. "At first, I thought it was a scam email, but after looking it over a second time, I thought everything looked pretty legitimate."

So McCreary called the Michigan Lottery office and found out that he really had won a large jackpot. He says that he felt all sorts of emotions when he found out he'd won.

All the Feelings

"Winning threw me off, made me shaky, and gave me butterflies all at the same time," he said.

The Grand Rapids man says he plans to use his winnings to take his wife on a sightseeing expedition.

"My wife and I have been wanting to take a trip to see the Taj Mahal, so I am going to use my winnings to finally make it happen," McCreary said.
