New Report Names This Popular Up North City Coolest Small Town in Michigan
I'll be the first to admit there’s nothing quite like the energy of the big city. The hustle, the sounds, and the action that happens 24/7, but the hectic life may not be everyone's cup of tea. That's when the charm of a small-town atmosphere is exactly what you need to take a step back and just enjoy the simple pace of life.
Thankfully, Michigan is filled with great small towns and cities to enjoy and one popular northern destination has just made the list of "Best Small Towns in America". According to Far & Wide, Traverse City stakes claim to be the best small town in Michigan in a recent report.
According to the online media company, they relied on the likes of U.S. News & World Report, Reader's Digest, Architectural Digest, The Travel Channel, and House Beautiful magazine to compile the list of the best of the best.
So what made Traverse City catch their eye? Pretty much everything Michiganders already know and love about the multi-season Up North town.
"Actually the largest city in northern Michigan, Traverse City nonetheless retains the small-town charm, particularly during its annual, beloved National Cherry Festival. (Fun fact: Three-quarters of the popular Montmorency cherries grown in the U.S. come from Michigan!) Besides its tart cherries, the town boasts a location in Grand Traverse Bay, providing an entryway to carefree days on the water and bays of Lake Michigan."
Far & Wide also noted that Traverse City was a pick favorite of Architectural Digest and Reader's Digest.
Yes, we realize that the mitten state is loaded with cool small towns and it's hard for us to pick just one, but it's nice to get a little national nod for sure.
