I think we can all agree that one of the benefits of watching Netflix, the popular streaming app, is that there are no commercials during our favorite shows. This has changed for some Netflix users, but the streaming service isn't calling them commercials.

If you are one of the chosen ones who is getting these test features, you will see trailers for other shows or movies that Netflix is suggesting for you. These trailers are playing between shows. Not everyone has this test feature, as Netflix is rolling it out to a select few members to test the idea.

According to the Netflix media center, they are calling these video previews.

For starters, video previews aren’t teasers or traditional trailers. They are specially designed video synopses that help members make faster and more confident decisions by quickly highlighting the story, characters and tone of a title. In developing this experience, our testing showed that people watched more of a story, demonstrating these previews helped them browse less and watch more.

If you are seeing video previews and you would rather not, here is how you opt out of the test service.

  1. Select your profile icon on your account
  2. Select "Account"
  3. Select "Settings"
  4. Turn the toggle to off on the "Test Participation" option.

When I logged on to my account from my computer this morning, this screen was the first thing that popped up. If you want to opt out, just flip the toggle to off.

If for some reason that didn't work, you can follow this link to opt out: https://bit.ly/2MwI0P1

Now if only I could opt out of them asking me if I'm still watching while I'm binging my favorite shows. Way to make me feel bad about my life choices, Netflix.
