
Michigan Woman Held Hostage in Tent; Suspect Charged With Sexual Assault
A Mt. Pleasant man living in a tent is accused of holding a 21-year-old woman captive for a week and repeatedly sexually assaulting her before she managed to escape and alert police, authorities said.
Details of the Incident
According to WNEM, 22-year-old William Thompson has been arraigned in Isabella County’s 76th District Court on numerous felony charges. The woman told police on Saturday, August 30, that she had been held against her will for a week and that Thompson repeatedly threatened her with a weapon.

- Carrying a Dangerous Weapon with Unlawful Intent

- Felonious Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
Police said the victim told investigators she was held in Thompson’s tent, where she was repeatedly assaulted and threatened with a weapon. She escaped on August 30 and contacted authorities, leading to Thompson’s arrest. The case has since been referred to the Isabella County Prosecutor’s Office.
Thompson remains lodged in the Isabella County Jail. If convicted on the most serious charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, he could face up to life in prison, according to WDIV.
