Mt. Morris Officer Honored for Rescuing Woman from Burning Home – The Good News
Congratulations, Officer Paulic!
Mount Morris K9 Officer Blake Paulic was honored recently for his heroism after a house fire last November.
He was responding to a call about a house fire around 11:45 PM on November 18th of last year. When he arrived, he saw an elderly woman laying inside, motionless. She was unable to escape the house because of the burglar bars and had been overcome by the smoke. He entered the house and carried her out.
Det. Sgt. Michael Veach nominated him, saying that he "demonstrated tremendous bravery for risking his own life to enter the burning structure to save the life of a complete stranger."
Officer Paulic received an award for "Outstanding Service" from the Police Officers Labor Council/General Employees Labor Council (POLC/GELC).
