Two Detroit icons who gained local notoriety for getting fans fired up before each Tigers home game were killed over the weekend in a hit-and-run accident. 'Dreadlock Mike' was well-known to Tigers fans, as was James Van Horn, the man who could be heard yelling "Eat 'em up, Tigers, eat 'em up!" outside Comerica Park.

Witnesses tell WXYZ that they heard a loud crash near the intersection of Gratiot and Russell early Saturday morning, about a mile from Comerica Park. Van Horn is believed to have been pushing Mike in his wheelchair when they were struck by a vehicle. The car left the scene. A second vehicle then hit Mike's wheelchair, and also left the scene.

Rest in peace, 'Eat 'em Up Tigers' guy, and Dreadlock Mike.
