There's just something comforting about TV sitcoms, isn't there? One of my sons and I have been working on '30 Rock' for a while now, watching two or three episodes as time permits. It's hilarious, it's ridiculous, and best of all it's a total distraction from the real world and our everyday stress.

What 'situation comedies' do you watch? If there's an opportunity to do a survey, somebody will find it, and the folks at CenturyLinkQuote decided to figure out the most popular sitcom for each state in the US.

So What is Michigan's Favorite Sitcom?

It's not 'The Office' (although that sure would be cool), it's not 'Family Guy' (thank God), and it's not 'That '70s Show.'

Michiganians' favorite TV sitcom is none other than 'The Simpsons.' Dysfunctional, certainly - but at the end of the day you always know that there's a lot of love emanating from 742 Evergreen Terrace in Springfield, wherever that Springfield may be.

(Sure, there's a Springfield in Michigan, over in Calhoun County but we kinda doubt that's what Matt Groening had in mind when he conceived The Simpsons back in 1989.)

Turns out, Michigan's not alone. There are 14 other states that pick Homer and company as their favorite, making it the most popular sitcom in the US.

Other Findings

Here's a look at the Top 5, along with the number of states picking each show as its favorite:

  1. The Simpsons (15)
  2. That '70s Show (11)
  3. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (7)
  4. The Goldbergs (5)
  5. Schitt's Creek (4)

CenturyLinkQuote compiled the data, plugging in stats from Moms.com, ScreenRant, YardBarker, and Google Trends to figure out what we're watching.

And here's another fun fact. Garrett's Real Estate Group just determined that the Simpsons' house would be worth $449,900 in today's market. They created a listing for it here.
