Janell Hoffman gave her son Greg a Christmas present he's been wanting for a long time - an iPhone. The 13-year old also got an 18-point agreement outlining his mom's rules for proper use of the device, and that was something he was not expecting.

Actually most of the rules set forth by Hoffman are common-sense principles we as adults should learn to abide by. See the entire list here.

"I will always know the password," is one of my favorites. We employ this rule at my house, and it applies to all the technology my sons use, including Facebook, Skype, and gaming systems.

"Do not use this technology to lie, fool, or deceive another human being. Do not involve yourself in conversations that are hurtful to others. Be a good friend first or stay the hell out of the crossfire." Bravo, Janell, Bravo!
