What Happened?
The concerned mother called the police on March 29 after noting that her son was exhibiting strange or suspicious behavior. Police visited the family's home in order to question the boy.
The 14-year-old boy, whose name is not being released because he is a minor admitted to Troy police officers that he had robbed the Capitol Wine and Liquor store earlier that evening.
According to a news release from the Troy Police Department, officers had previously responded to a call at the store at about 5:30 that evening. An employee said that a young man demanded that she "empty the register" while keeping his right hand in the pocket of his hoodie. He did not, however, show a weapon. The boy then grabbed the money and ran away on foot.
