Michigan Woman Given High School Diploma 80 Years After She Dropped Out
Ruth Freeza, a 98-year-old Michigan resident dropped out of Lake Shore High School in St Clair Shores in 1936 to help her mother raise her siblings. More than 80 years later, there was a ceremony held for her at Mt Clemens Nursing Home, where she currently resides. Lake Shore Public Schools Superintendent has added Ruth to the official class of 1938 and has given her a diploma. The Superintendent made his decision after he learned Ruth dropped out as a sophomore to help her mother raise her five siblings over 80 years ago.
