A Southeast Michigan woman has been jailed after authorities say she tried to torch her car while her 11-year-old son was bound and locked inside.

Sherrie Richter was arraigned Thursday on intent to murder and arson charges. The Monroe County Sheriff's Department says the 48-year-old woman bound the boy's wrists, locked him in the vehicle, and attempted to set two fires in the car. The incident occurred at Roselawn Memorial Park cemetery, near the Michigan/Ohio border.

She later freed the boy. Reports say he was taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure, and Richter is being held on a $100,000 bond.
