They had their annual "packing day" over the weekend, sending over 1,100 packages.

The Bay City group called the Yellow Ribbon Guard sent over a thousand care packages to the troops who are stationed overseas during the holidays. The packages include personal hygiene items, snacks, and clothing. The military members filled out "wish lists" at the armory, so volunteers know exactly what to pack.

The group of volunteers included Melissa Alex, who lost her husband in Iraq in 2005. He, too, received one of these packages, and she wants to make sure that as many soldiers get them as they can make possible. It's called "Send Santa to the Troops."

Over 150 volunteers took time to put together these packages and get them mailed out. What a wonderful thing to do - and they do it all year round.
