Michigan Radio Personality Facing Federal Charges Including Sex w/ Children [Video]
I think this is so disturbing to me because I know that you, as listeners, trust us enough to let us start your day through an alarm clock, take us with you as you drive to and from work or while you do errands, and into your workplace. It's a privilege that no one at Cars 108 takes lightly, unlike this creep.
John Balyo, a popular morning radio personality for well known Christian station, WCSG in Grand Rapids is being held on federal charges that include first degree criminal sexual conduct and manufacturing child pornography.
According to the Michigan State Police post in Battle Creek and Homeland Security Investigators, 35 year old Balyo paid a man who has been identified as Ronald Moser in a separate HSI child pornography investigation to arrange sexual encounters with minor victims in motels in and around Grand Rapids. The two men would then have sex with male victims under the age of 12. There is no official comment as to how many minor children may have been victimized.
Balyo was arrested at a recent Gaylord Christian music festival that he has hosted for several years, and co-workers at the "family friendly media outlet for Christ" radio station are still in a state of shock. Some still can't believe the allegations, but a statement from WCSG confirms that Balyo is no longer affiliated with the radio station. Chris Lemke, WCSG's General Manager issued an official statement as well.
6.23.2014
This past Friday, the WCSG family was shocked and saddened to learn that WCSG morning show host, John Balyo, was arrested amid allegations which have since been much publicized. On Saturday, WCSG and Cornerstone University ended its affiliation with John.
We sincerely grieve over these recent events, in particular the tragic impact on victims and their parents. The trafficking and exploitation of minors is absolutely deplorable.
The WCSG family is deeply aching and know you may be hurting as well.
We know that no one, absolutely no one, is immune from falling into the darkness of sin. And yet, we have hope. Those who truly follow and live for Jesus Christ know He alone has the power to restore broken lives and broken trust.
In that light, I want you, our radio family, to know that more than ever WCSG exists to serve as a Christ-centered influence through compelling content, relevant platforms and compassionate relationships. Our vision is to be the encouraging, engaging and equipping media influence for Christ, his church and his kingdom, here in West Michigan.
Over the next few weeks, we request you to pray in earnest for everyone afflicted by these events, and most certainly, for the victims related to the allegations.
Thank you for prayers and support.
Sincerely,
Chris Lemke
Executive Director, Cornerstone University Radio
