Michigan Man Wins $2M on Instant Ticket Purchased at Meijer
Who knew that an ordinary trip to the store could lead to a $2 million windfall? It happened to a Michigan man who bought an instant scratch-off ticket while picking up some groceries at his local Meijer store.
Winning $2 Million on a Michigan Instant Ticket
Hugh Leach tells the Michigan Lottery he buys a $20 instant ticket every two weeks. Leach and his wife live in Mason and he purchased his winning Diamonds & Gold instant ticket at the Meijer store on Hull Road in Mason. Mason is about 15 miles southeast of Lansing in Ingham County.
"When I finished up grocery shopping, I stopped at the Lottery machine and purchased a ticket on my way out," Leach says. "When I got home and finished unloading the groceries, I scratched the ticket."

Leach says he was in disbelief when he saw that he had won such a huge prize.
"When I saw I matched ‘02’ for a $2 million prize, I thought: 'Wait a minute. This can’t be right.' I looked the ticket over a few more times and then said to my wife, 'I think I just won $2 million!'"
What to Do With All That Money?
Leach says he plans to use his winnings to buy a new car, a new lawn mower, do some home repairs, and invest.
