The Shark is in the water. Long-distance swimmer Jim Dreyer, who calls himself "The Shark," is on a 22-mile journey, hopefully swimming ashore at Belle Isle early this afternoon (8/6). To make the swim a bit more challenging, he's hauling two dinghies, loaded with 334 bricks.

Dreyer calls the 2,000 pound load his "train of pain."

The almost 50-year-old Dreyer was inspired to swim across Lake St. Clair by Habitat for Humanity, and plans to sell each of the bricks to support building projects of the purchaser's choice.

You can track Dreyer's progress here. A Grand Rapids TV station has more on his progress as of this morning.
