Michigan Man is the First to Die in the State from the Flu
The first death of the flu season comes out of Oakland County.
A 69-year-old man has become the first Michigander to succumb to the flu this year, confirmed by the Oakland County health department.
The most effective way to fight off the flu is to get vaccinated. Flu season can run from October to as late as May, so it's definitely not too late.
It's also important to take preventative measures like hand-washing and staying home from work and school when you're sick.
The elderly, young children and those with compromised immune systems are those at the most risk for the flu.
