Michigan Woman Calls $4M Scratch-Off Win a Gift From Her Late Father
A woman from Jackson County who just won $4 million on an instant ticket from the Michigan Lottery can't help but think her win is a gift from her late father.
Taking a Chance on a Bigger Ticket
The 48-year-old woman tells the Michigan Lottery that she occasionally buys scratch-off instant tickets, but typically just buys the $1 or $2 tickets. But on a recent trip to the Royal Liquor Food Market, she decided to take a chance on the World Class Millions game.
World Class Millions tickets sell for $30, with prizes ranging from $30 to $4 million.
"I scratched it when I got home, and when I saw I won $4 million, I showed my mom and said, 'Am I reading this right?'"

A Gift From Her Late Father
The player, who has chosen to remain anonymous, gives some of the credit for her win to her deceased father.
“Before my dad passed, he would always buy me scratch-off tickets, so I can’t help but think this is a gift from him,” she said.
(The thought of a father looking out for his daughter from above makes us smile - we're glad he continues to be this lucky woman's guardian angel.)
Lucky Lottery Player Practices Philanthropy
The player tells the Michigan Lottery that she plans to donate some of her winnings to charity and save the rest toward retirement.
“I plan to continue working, and when the time comes, I am going to use my winnings as a financial cushion for retirement,” the player said.
