Michigan Family Adopts Teen Featured on the Local News – The Good News
Now THAT is the definition of "good news" in the mitten!
Katlyn was featured on Fox 17's series called Forever Home, where they feature kids in Michigan's foster care system who are up for adoption. She appeared on an episode back in February of 2019.
Barbara and Scott Holmes of Howard City saw the episode and knew that they wanted Katlyn to be part of their family - they took accelerated classes to become a certified foster family, but there was no guarantee that she'd still be up for adoption when they finished.
They met in August of last year and, as Barbara says, "We knew from the moment that we met her that she was our child."
She's now changed her name to Caraline and is thriving in the Holmes household, and it's all because of a West Michigan local news program.
