Michigan Boy Raises Money for Friend’s Headstone – The Good News
A true friend until the end, and beyond.
KJ Gross and Kaleb Klakulak have been best friends since 2nd grade. Unfortunately, KJ has been sick for a good portion of that time - he was diagnosed with leukemia and had a bone marrow transplant.
He was free of the disease for six years, but then came down with congestive heart failure. The hospital staff would "bend" the rules so that Kaleb could come in and play video games with KJ, but sadly, KJ lost his battle in May.
Kaleb kept in touch with KJ's mom, Sam Singleton, and found out that she couldn't afford a headstone for her son; she had to quit her job when KJ got sick and has other children to take care of. So Kaleb started running errands for people to raise money.
He even started a PayPal fundraiser and, on Monday, he was able to go with Sam to pick out a headstone for KJ. He raised more than $2,500 because he didn't want Sam to have to visit an "unmarked grave."
I'm not crying, YOU'RE CRYING!!
