A 38-year-old 911 operator who worked for the city of Detroit has died from the Coronavirus. The man reportedly had no known underlying health issues.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig tells WDIV the man had been with the DPD for eight years.

“Yesterday, we lost one of our own -- an excellent and dedicated 911 call taker, a 38-year-old man who has served this city well,” Duggan said. “We’re not releasing the name out of the respect for privacy for the family, but I do want to say to the family that the thoughts and prayers of every Detroiter are with you today and we appreciate the dedicated service.”

In my opinion, this story drives home the seriousness of coronavirus. This was a seemingly healthy, middle-aged man who contracted the disease and died.

This is no damn joke. We strongly urge you to follow Governor Whitmer's directive:  Stay at home and stay safe.
