We are deeply saddened to learn the cause of death of former Cars 108 morning show host Dave McKay. The Pinellas County, Florida Medical Examiner has determined that McKay died of an accidental cocaine overdose.

The autopsy also showed that alcohol was in his system, and that cardiovascular disease contributed to his death. McKay was 55. His death has been ruled an accident.

McKay, whose real name was Steve Ehmke, was found dead in his St. Petersburg home on August 4th. Dave was a household name in Flint, serving as morning show host on Cars 108 from 1988 to 1990. After a brief stop in Indianapolis, he moved to Tampa, and enjoyed many years of success as the morning show host at WQYK, 99.5 FM.
