Marine Amputee Finishes Boston Marathon, Carrying The Flag – The Good News [VIDEO]
The flag he was carrying was signed by other soldiers who served with him in Afghanistan.
Jose Luis Sanchez served in Afghanistan and, six years ago, lost his leg after he stepped on an IED. And then, last year, he started running marathons - while wearing a prosthetic leg.
Yesterday, he finished his second Boston Marathon in 5 hours, 21 minutes and 56 seconds...carrying the American flag that has been signed by his comrades.
If you're not a runner, to put the time in perspective - I don't run with a prosthetic, and I can finish a half-marathon in 3 hours flat. Needless to say, leg or no leg, his time is impressive.
He says that he didn't run it for himself - he ran it so that others will be inspired and motivated. Mission accomplished, sir. Very well done.
