Man Who Lost Home in Wildfires Wins $1 Million – The Good News
It feels good to be happy for other peoples' good fortune than to be jealous, trust me.
Bill Pendergast, originally from New Foundland, was home visiting and taking care of his ill father. He's spent the last two years rebuilding his home in Fort McMurray, Alberta, after losing it to the wildfires.
On his way back to the hospital, his Dad asked him to pick up a 7-UP. While he was at the convenience store, he picked up an Atlantic Lottery ticket. Didn't think much of it until the next day, when his aunt asked him if he bought one...because somebody in the area had won $1 million.
He checked his numbers and was FLOORED. Called his wife back in Fort McMurray, and she booked a flight soon after.
Bill says that he's going to use the money to finish his home, but his "splurge" will be a Mustang. Congratulations! Sounds like it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy :)
