Liam Stewart (Son of Rod Stewart/Rachel Hunter) Scores OT Goal in Hockey Playoff
Liam Stewart, 17, scored the winning goal in overtime as the Spokane Chiefs beat the Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League playoffs. Stewart is the son of singer Rod Stewart and supermodel Rachel Hunter. Rod is an avid soccer fan and has been known to kick soccer balls into the crowd at his concerts. Hunter has graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Their son, Liam is quickly becoming known for his work on skates. Liam Stewart plays for the Spokane Chiefs, a top-tier junior hockey league with teams in western Canada and northwestern United States.
His teammates say that Stewart is very "down to earth" and is one of the guys.
His dad is from England and is a huge soccer fan, mom is from New Zealand. Liam grew up in southern California. Not exactly the typical background for a hockey player. Liam was born in England, and has been on their national team's development program. Is an Olympic team in his future? Or professional hockey? Time will tell.
Stewart scored the game winner for his team in the WHL playoffs to force a game 7 in that series. He has 14 goals and 12 assists in 66 games this season.
