In a world where everything seems to be tied to an app, Kroger is giving shoppers access to its digital deals without clicks and without an app.

The Cincinnati-based retailer announced that it's rolling out printed flyers that mirror its weekly digital ads, in order to make things easier for customers who may not be comfortable using smartphone apps. These flyers are available at the entrance of Kroger stores, along with paper sale ads.

Here's How It Works:

Customers can take the printed flyers to the checkout and have them scanned. The digital deals are then loaded onto shoppers' rewards cards, allowing them to take advantage of the discounts at checkout. No cell phone is required, and customers don't need to "clip" deals on a computer or phone before entering the store.

Why It Matters:

A Kroger representative confirmed to the Cincinnati Enquirer that the store is looking to make its digital deals available to all shoppers.

"To make it simpler for our customers to take advantage of the full value our stores offer, we are providing an easy-to-use flyer that customers can scan to save with digital coupons," the spokesperson said.

Who Benefits Most:

While the move is sure to be welcomed by elderly shoppers and those who aren’t comfortable with technology, it’s also a win for the tech-savvy. Even people who regularly use apps can appreciate a quicker, simpler checkout. After all, who hasn’t waited behind someone scrolling through their phone trying to find a digital coupon?
