Kayak, Fishing, Tubing Landing Opening This Summer on Flint River

As an avid recreational kayaker, I can't tell you how excited I am for this!

Welcome to Paddler's Landing at the Mott Park Recreation Area. It's scheduled to be open by the end of July of this year, and it's all thanks to crowdfunding.

The Flint River Watershed Coalition had a goal to raise $50,000 for the project, with the extended goal of then being awarded an additional $50,000 Patronicity grant from Michigan's Economic Development Corporation. They ended up raising $65,000 AND received the grant, which will cover the full cost of the project.

The end-of-July opening date is scheduled so as not to interfere with the fish-spawning season, which happens in May and June.
