Katie Couric Officially Leaving CBS

A few weeks ago we talked about rumors that Katie Couric was leaving CBS in the summer. Couric has officially announced she's stepping down from the evening news when her contract is up on June 4. She says she's not sure what she plans on doing next. Maybe she will work with Matt Lauer again when his contract with NBC is up.

I always thought she made a mistake leaving the 'Today' show because she was so much better in that capacity than doing evening news. I think her personality fit the morning show style, rather than trying to be a serious news anchor.

I could definitely see her going back to doing a morning or afternoon talk show. CBS says they plan to appoint Scott Pelley from '60 Minutes' to take over her position.
