The Worst Restaurant Chain in America? We’ve Got 7 in Michigan
There's a little something for pretty much everyone when it comes to dining out in Michigan. There's greasy fast food, fancy date-night spots, hole-in-the-wall gems, and even the chains everyone loves to hate.
The hard part is getting everyone on the same page since everyone’s taste is different. Honestly, it’s almost easier figuring out where not to go than deciding where to eat. Well, the digital publication Far & Wide just made that a little easier by ranking the “10 Worst Chain Restaurants in the U.S.”
While you may not find out the best spot to go, you'll definitely find out where not to go.
The Worst Restaurant Chains in America
You’ll find several chains on Far & Wide’s list that people say are a bit overpriced, totally underwhelming, and just sliding by on name recognition instead of actual quality.
Some of the restaurant chains on the list also have locations in Michigan, including the following:
#9 Red Lobster – Michigan doesn’t have a ton of seafood chains, but we do have Red Lobster. It’s one of those places you either love or hate. One Yelp reviewer even warned, “Skip the unlimited shrimp like your life depended on it... because it does.”
#8 Olive Garden – Man, why do they have to throw Olive Garden under the bus? I love me some OG, but apparently not everyone feels the same. One Yelp reviewer said, “You shouldn’t trust anything that offers unlimited anything — and Olive Garden offers unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks. Run far away.” Come on... the unlimited breadsticks are literally why you go to Olive Garden!
#4 IHOP – Um, I went once, so yeah... I totally get why this made the list. One Yelp reviewer did not hold back: “The eggs clearly come from a box, the bacon is frozen, the coffee might as well be ink, and the orange juice is an offense to the fruit.” Brutal.

Okay, enough with the suspense, right? Here's what Far & Wide considers to be the worst restaurant in America:
#1 Golden Corral – I'll be honest, I've never been to Golden Corral and probably won't be going anytime soon after reading this Yelp review:
We love buffets as much as the next person, but Golden Corral is a bad idea all around. Why risk your gut health by eating at this chain when there are buffets that sell things like delicious Indian food?
Golden Corral shouldn’t be allowed to operate.
Michigan has seven of these bad boys, if you’re feeling brave...or just really, really hungry.
