Starlite Diner in Burton Is Finally Getting Ready to Reopen
Well, well, well. It looks like one of Genesee County’s oldest and most loved restaurants is finally getting ready to reopen.
Starlite Diner & Coney Island on Center Road has been closed for months after a vehicle crashed into the side of the building back in late August. At first glance, it didn't look like it was too big of a deal. However, after closer inspection, it was a total disaster.
Once crews got inside and started assessing the damage, it became clear everything was connected. The kitchen, the hoods, the ventilation, the built-in equipment, and even the ceiling grids all had to come out. It was a real mess.

To make matters worse, Starlite’s other Burton location on East Court Street also closed that same night due to an electrical fire, though it reopened just a few days later.
Starlite Diner in Burton is Ready to Reopen
Well, after five long months of being closed, Starlite is ready to reopen. The classic diner vibe is still there, just with a fresh new look. Same old-school personality, a little brighter, and cleaned up without losing its soul.
The iconic sign outside is still there, along with plenty of familiar touches inside for their longtime loyal customers.
And yes, the food is staying the same. That part wasn’t up for debate.
Another big win is the staff. Many longtime employees are coming back, which honestly matters just as much as the menu.
As of now, they’re expecting to reopen this week. No big grand reopening spectacle. Just unlocking the doors and getting back to doing what they do best.
