Imagine driving along I-75 and then all of a sudden, gunfire erupts. That’s exactly what happened to a 28-year-old man on Friday evening, and somehow he’s lucky enough to still be alive to tell the story.

Where Did the I-75 Shooting Happen?

The incident happened around 7 p.m. on southbound I-75 near Hess Avenue in Saginaw County. According to ABC 12, the man’s vehicle was targeted for some reason by people in a pickup truck who fired multiple shots.

The shooting caused him to crash into a semi-trailer, but thankfully, he was able to get himself to the TA Travel Center in Bridgeport to get help.

He was taken to a local hospital with gunshot injuries, which police say are non-life-threatening.

What’s still unclear is why he was targeted in the first place. Was it road rage? Did the shooters know him? Or was it something completely random? Right now, police haven’t said.

Michigan State Police Searching for Suspects

At this point, no suspects have been caught. Police are asking anyone with information to reach out to Michigan State Police or Crime Stoppers.

It’s wild to think something like this can happen in broad daylight on a busy stretch of highway. If you were driving along I-75 Friday evening and saw anything suspicious, now’s the time to speak up.

When you think about it, if this was nothing more than a random shooting, it could have happened to anyone. Seriously, this could have been an unsuspecting family just driving up north for the weekend.
