Michigan Man Dies After Falling Off Truck While Placing Barrels
There’s nothing worse than hearing about someone just doing their job and it ending as an absolute tragedy. That’s exactly what happened in Midland County, where a young man from Allen Park lost his life after a work zone accident earlier this month.
WNEM reports that 30-year-old Eduardo Aguilar of Allen Park was working along eastbound US-10 in Jerome Township on Monday, Sept. 8. Around 10:50 a.m., he was on the back of a 2021 Chevy Silverado, helping place barrels in the construction area. That’s when things went horribly wrong.

Aguilar fell from the truck and hit his head on the road. A 24-year-old man from Bay City was driving the Silverado. Emergency crews rushed Aguilar to MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland, where doctors did everything they could. Sadly, after nearly a week of fighting, Aguilar passed away from his injuries on Sept. 14.

It’s a heartbreaking reminder of just how dangerous work zones can be, even when you’re being careful. What started as a regular day on the job ended in tragedy. Our thoughts are with Aguilar’s family, friends, and coworkers during this most difficult time.
It really makes you wonder. Will this tragedy finally push for more safety measures in these situations? We all see workers sitting in or hanging off the sides of trucks when this type of work is being done, and clearly, it’s not without risk.
