Lapeer Duck Dash Features Free Fun For The Entire Family
The Kiwanis Club of Lapeer presents its annual Rubber Duck Dash this weekend.
This family-friendly event is free to attend and features bounce houses, roller skating, a petting zoo, food trucks and so much more. You may even win some cash by participating in two 50/50 drawings or by adopting a rubber duck for the race.
Here is everything you need to know about this awesome event.
When is the Kiwanis of Lapeer Rubber Duck Dash?
The event happens Saturday, September 17th from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
Where is the Kiwanis of Lapeer Rubber Duck Dash happening?
The fun will take place at Cramton Park in Lapeer (130 South Monroe Street).
What exactly is a Rubber Duck Dash?
The Rubber Duck Dash features thousands of 'adopted' rubber ducks being dropped into Farmers Creek in a “dash” to the finish line. The ducks will be dropped into the river from the Kiwanis-sponsored pedestrian bridge at Cramton Park. The river will carry the ducks approximately 100 yards to the finish chute.
How much is it to adopt a duck for the race?
You can adopt a duck (or several), for just $5 each, essentially buying a raffle ticket as each rubber duck has a number corresponding to each adoption certificate (raffle ticket). You never actually touch or handle your duck - Kiwanis keeps those safe. Just retain your ticket stub(s) with your duck number(s). Adopt your ducks and come watch to see if yours is fast enough to make it through the chute first to win the $1,000 cash prize. The second duck through the chute wins $500, and so on until all prizes have been awarded. Over $3.000 in prizes will be awarded. Ducks can be adopted by any Kiwanis Club of Lapeer member. Visit our website at www.kiwanislapeer.org for more details on duck adoptions.
Is there prize money for the Rubber Duck Dash?
Yes. The prize money is as follows,
- 1st place - $1,000 cash prize
- 2nd place - $500 cash prize
- So on from there. Over $3000 will be awarded.
You do not have to be present to win the Rubber Duck Dash, but as you will see on the event flyer below, there is plenty for you and your family to enjoy in anticipation of the race.
Shout out to all of the sponsors involved and of course to the Kiwanis Club of Lapeer for putting on such a fun event. Check out some of the ducks featured in last year's Duckorating Contest in the photo gallery below.
