Caged Dog and Exotic Animals Left to Rot in Vacant Detroit House
It’s hard to believe the awful things people will do to animals. For example, in Detroit, rescuers found a dog locked in a cage inside an abandoned house. She was left to rot in filth with no food or water.
According to Fox 2, the dog was found when a locksmith went into the home and realized someone had left her trapped in a crate. The cage was covered in urine and feces, and she looked weak and dirty. Whoever put her there clearly walked away and never looked back.
Detroit Rescue: Dog and Exotic Pets Abandoned in Vacant House
The dog wasn’t the only animal left behind. Inside the house, rescuers also came across a tortoise, a snake, a tarantula, and two geckos. Just like the dog, these exotic pets had been abandoned in brutal conditions.
Locksmith Helps Save Dog and Exotic Animals in Detroit
Actually, the locksmith who found the dog didn’t just walk away. He took her home, gave her a bath, and even brought her to work the next day to make sure she wasn’t alone. He later went back to the house and rescued the exotic animals, too.
From there, Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue stepped in to help. They confirmed the pup is now safe and getting the care she desperately needs.
Stories like this are infuriating, but at least this one has a shot at a happy ending. The rescue says the dog will be put up for adoption once she's healthy enough, meaning there’s still a chance she'll end up in a home where she’s actually cared for.
