Perry, Michigan Educator Receives Teacher of the Month Award

There are good teachers and then, there are incredible educators. We had the honor of meeting one of Mid-Michigan's finest and presenting her with an hour-long massage from New Beginnings Salon and Spa and Wharton Center, as well as a certificate honoring her as Mid-Michigan's Teacher of the Month.

We asked for nominations (link here) from the community and we were overwhelmed with names and stories of how Michigan's teachers are changing lives.

One story of going the extra mile in the classroom was submitted by Linda Johnston, nominating Perry Public Schools Olivia Flores for Teacher of the Month:

This young lady is not only beautiful, but she has a master's degree in education and all the new parents request her when their children start kindergarten. She not only loves and cares for her children in her classroom and school she buys them things they need and pays for their lunches if needed.

 

Each year she puts on a Veterans Day breakfast on veterans' day for all the paraments and grandparents of the children from the elementary and anyone in the community. She works hard to provide gifts, cash, gift cards and prizes for every veteran that attends. She not only is a teacher for kindergarten she works the after-school program and tutors' students in her spare time.

 

She is a dedicated person who works hard for her community and children, and it shows in her dedication and commitment to her work and students. please select her for this honor she is so deserving, and she will continue to do great things for the Perry Public Schools and the community she servers.

Johnston isn't the only one with great things to say about Flores. Perry Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lori Haven had this to share:

Olivia is an amazing educator who has a passion for working with our youngest learners, building a solid foundation for their growth and development long-term. Olivia has been at PPS since 2015 and is a wonderful asset to our team. Her love for children, for supporting families, and for life-long learning are evident in everything she does.
