Student-athletes give it their all on the court, cheerleaders get the crowd pumped up, and fans in the student section make as much noise as possible.

But something that happened recently at a Michigan high school basketball game has gotten national attention for all the wrong reasons.

Racial Slur Yelled At Michigan Basketball Game

On February 17, Kearsley High School played at Goodrich High School in a varsity boys basketball game.

A student in Goodrich’s student section shouted a racial slur as a Kearsley player attempted a free throw.

The crowd let out an audible gasp and the game came to an immediate stop.

I'm surprised that all hell didn't break loose and that a big fight didn’t erupt in the stands.

Goodrich Area Schools Superintendent Mike Baszler addressed the incident on social media a few days later.

I don't understand what this student was thinking when he yelled the racial slur.

Did someone bet him to do it?

Did he think it was funny and would get a laugh?

Are they just a racist piece of poop?

Regardless of the reason, it's sad and frustrating.

If I was one of those students in the stands, I would have called that student out in front of everybody for saying some racist crap like that.
