As cleanup efforts continue in the Southeastern United States after the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene, residents are now bracing for what looks to be the most impactful hurricane in decades:  Hurricane Milton. Weather experts report that Hurricane Milton is showing signs of weakening as it barrels toward the western shore of Florida, but it is still expected to bring 15 inches of rain and a storm surge that could top 15 feet in the Tampa Bay area.

And the ripple effect of these hurricanes is being felt hundreds of miles away.

Flights Expected to be Delayed at Michigan Airports

If you have travel plans that involve flying into or out of Michigan's major airports, you may be in for travel delays.

According to the latest data from the Department of Transportation, Detroit's Metro Airport and Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids are two of the top 10 airports experiencing the most travel delays due to the effects of extreme weather in the Southeast.

More on the Timing of Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall near Tampa Bay and Sarasota late Wednesday (10/09) night or after midnight Thursday, according to Florida's WPTV-TV. 

There are mandatory evacuations along Florida's west coast due to storm surge concerns. The hurricane will continue to move quickly and is expected to cross the state in a span of about 10 hours after landfall.
