Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear Join ‘House of Cards’ Final Season
Kevin Spacey who? House of Cards’ final season may be all about Robin Wright’s Claire Underwood, but hers won’t be the only familiar face. Both Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear have joined the eight-episode sixth season in key roles, amid other returning favorites.
Netflix confirms that Lane and Kinnear will join the sixth and final House of Cards season in a brother-sister role, though no additional details of their character significance have yet been revealed. Additionally, regular and recurring cast Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Boris McGiver, Derek Cecil, Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott will all reprise their roles, as will early series star and UnREAL lead Constance Zimmer.
Production recently resumed on the final season, having shut down for months to re-engineer the final run around Robin Wright after disgraced star Kevin Spacey’s firing. The series was more or less poised to move Claire center-stage anyway, though the move to sever ties with Spacey following pedophilia and sexual assault allegations reportedly cost Netflix $39 million in write-downs. As previously stated, House of Cards will discard existing Season 6 footage and explain Frank Underwood’s exit without Spacey.
It remains to be seen if the final House of Cards episodes will premiere in 2018, so stay tuned for the latest.
