Grand Blanc Church Plans Several Free Food Distributions to Benefit Flint Area Families
Several free food distributions are planned for this summer and families from Flint and the surrounding area are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity.
This is a cause that I'm personally very excited about, and proud of as well. Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc in cooperation with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan sponsors the monthly food distributions. This is the 18th year the Grand Blanc church has held food distributions to help those looking for a little extra help.
Proud to Serve Genesee County
Pastor Nathan Allen says the food distribution program is one of the ways the church helps serve the community.
"We see it as part of our ministry with and to the greater Flint community," Allen said. "These distributions are truly a community effort with volunteers from other churches, organizations, and even some recipients who come early to help set up and organize the food."
In Michigan, more than one million people face food insecurity regularly. One out of nine adults and one out of eight children in our state periodically rely on food assistance programs, according to Feeding America.
