You're well aware that crime rates vary widely from county to county here in Michigan.

There's a true dichotomy between the safest places to live in Michigan and the cities and townships with the highest crime rates. Surprisingly, the safest place to live in Michigan is a small township with a population of just 6,600 in Oakland County. And while Detroit makes the Top 10 list of most dangerous cities and towns in Michigan, it isn't ranked the worst. That distinction goes to a township in Berrien County, in Michigan's southwest corner.
