“Harry Potter” Author J. K. Rowling Writes Letter to Grieving Teen
Just days after a Texas teen survived a shooting in her house that took the lives of her parents and siblings, a package arrived from someone famous who took notice.
CBS News reports that 15-year-old Cassidy Stay survived a gunshot wound sustained in the shooting at her Texas home by playing dead. Her father, mother and four younger siblings were all killed. Later on Stay quoted a passage from a Harry Potter novel in which the character Dumbledore says "Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." Well, after a Facebook campaign, Rowling took notice and sent a package with a letter written as Dumbledore, a wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts with a school supply list and an autographed book.
While it definitely won't make up for the loss that Stay has gone through, the package from Rowling was a very nice sentiment!
