In an era of HD Doppler Radar, supercomputers and an army of meteorologists, people still seem to care if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow on February 2nd. The small town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania will conduct the 126th annual Groundhog Day ceremony tomorrow morning.

Legend has it that if Phil sees his shadow, we only have to endure six more weeks of winter. With the lack of winter-like weather in Michigan, we haven't had to endure anything all that terrible so far.

As anybody who has lived in Michigan for any length of time knows, it is wise to keep your snow shovel handy until at least the second week of baseball season. I don't put mine too far out of reach until the calendar says "May". That may sound crazy, but the weather has been a bit "off" so far this year.
