Great Lakes Crossing made the announcement that they will be opening in a limited capacity starting today.

The move comes as some of the stay home orders are starting to be lifted in Michigan, but don't expect it to be anything like it was before the Coronavirus pandemic. The normal mall feel will definitely be gone as most of the stores that are open will be by appointment only. Great Lakes Crossing made the announcement on their Instagram page yesterday.

According to a press release from the mall, there will also be new safety measures in place for shoppers. Some of the noticeable changes you will see will be the social distancing markers throughout the mall. There will also be no public seating areas, and the play places will be closed. The new hours are 11-7 Monday -Saturday and 11-6 on Sudnay.

The list of stores and restaurants that are open in some capacity can be found here, but keep in mind that the list is growing every hour. If you have something specific that you need to get from the mall, I would make sure to call ahead first to find out if you need an appointment. If you are just going to walk around and kill time, I would suggest staying home or finding a safer way to kill time.

I have tried to error on the side of extreme caution through the entire pandemic, so I understand that there will be many people that disagree with me. I just don't know if opening a major shopping center is the best move right now. I understand that they have to open at some point, but I just don't know if it's right now.

If you do choose to go to the mall, please make sure that safety is priority number one.
