The morning meeting at the Frankfort, Michigan Coast Guard Station was interrupted by a distress call: a dog had plunged into the icy waters and needed to be rescued.

Boatswain mate third class Tim Putnam swam through 200 feet of icy waters to push the ice out of the way. Petty office 1st class Jeremy Morris also got in the water to assist, and after 24 minutes, the dog was back on dry land. She's currently recovering at the Animal Welfare League of Benzie County.

In case you were wondering what the coast guard does, here ya go! How cute is that?!
