It's no secret the Scott Sassack is all about helping out when needed. The owner of Great Harvest Bread Co. in Grand Blanc is continually giving back to his local community, even at a time like this when his own business is feeling the effects of the coronavirus outbreak.

Sassack learned Tuesday that Whaley Children's Center was in need of bread. The center is caring for 42 children in a ever changing situation and running low on supplies. Sassack immediately donated 12 loaves of bread to the center without hesitation and refusing payment.

In addition to the gracious donation, Sassack has told Whaley he will provide them with bread each week while the need is there. "It's bread and they need it. I'm glad to help anyway I can", the always humble Sassack said.

It's times like these that we see communities come together and real life heroes emerge. Be sure to support your local businesses as much as you can.

If you would like to help Whaley Children's Center with needed supplies, please contact them at (810) 234-3603 for a list of needed items. Whaley Children’s Center  also has a wish registry at Target and Amazon.
