Great Grandmother is Red Cross’ Longest Serving Volunteer – The Good News [VIDEO]
She's 92, and she doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon.
Mary Bochanis has been volunteering at Walter Reed for the last 73 years. She also volunteers at the Children's Inn at the National Institute of Health - think of it like the Ronald McDonald House. Families stay there while their children are receiving treatment. She's translated Greek for one of the doctors' patients, and she also serves food and coffee at the cafe at the inn.
She received the Maryland Governor Larry Hogan’s Lifetime Service Award. She says that her work was inspired by her late husband, a WWII vet she met while volunteering at Walter Reed.
She also says she has no plans to stop volunteering, and she's always home in time for her soaps at 1 PM.
I'll just say what we're all thinking....SHE'S 92?? What's in the water in Maryland?!
