Grass Lake's Teen's Journey to Fame Continues on 'The Voice'

Michigan's Brayden Lape will take the next step to become a superstar on this week's The Voice.

The 16-year-old high schooler from Grass Lake, Michigan secured his spot in the Top 13 last week with another fantastic performance that won over America. Late made it to the Top 13 after he performed Jordan Davis’ “Buy Dirt” on the show once again showing he has the star power it takes to make him a star.

We told you last week that Lape has been a standout since his blind audition which landed him a spot on veteran judge Blake Shelton's team. Lape, a sophomore at Grass Lake High School not far from Jackson and sang the song Niall Horan’s “This Town” at the blind audition and has been impressing the judges since.

Officially the youngest contestant on the show, the high school athlete, who plays both football, basketball, and baseball according to Mlive, secured his spot in the top 16 and the live show by making Shelton proud with his rendition of “Mercy” by Brett Young and becoming the winner of the Battle Rounds. Shelton, in his 23rd and final season of the singing competition, has referred to Lape as a singing Tom Brady.

Brayden Lape is set to perform again this week as The Voice continues its live shows on Monday and Tuesday starting at 8:00 pm on NBC. Make sure to vote and let's get our Michigan star all the way to the finals!

Stacker used data from the 2020 County Health Rankings to rank every state's average life expectancy from lowest to highest. The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
