I went to the Grand Blanc Relay for Life for a while yesterday. If you have never been, I will tell you that it is much more than just walking around a track.

The Grand Blanc Relay for Life took place at Grand Blanc East Middle School. They kicked off their fight against cancer at 11am on Saturday (May 21st), and had activities going all through the night. According to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life is an organized community fundraising walk that includes food, games and activities, provides entertainment and builds camaraderie. It is really more powerful than that though. I was there for the survivor ceremony, during this time they have all the cancer survivors line up on the track and take a survival lap. Then they get their caretaker and walk a lap with them. Cancer has touched all our lives in some way, and it is a tough fight. The look of achievement and pride on those survivors faces is something I will never forget.
